The advantage to this is that they are VERY stable - I was able to haul my 50 lb dog out of the lake and onto the kayak every time she decided she didn't want to swim anymore.
They are wider and have a very flat bottom, and don't seem to have the same grip on the water. They are very easy to paddle, but don't skim through the water as quickly as a traditional kayak. My husband is 6'3 200 pounds and we both fit very comfortably in our kayaks. This is NOT a serious kayak, but it's a heck of a lot of fun.
